Essential requirement:
For motor boats, the main steering position shall give the operator, under normal conditions of use (speed and load), good all-round visibility.

Harmonized standard:
• EN ISO 11591:2000 Small craft, engine-driven - Field of vision from helm position

This essential requirement is only applicable for motor boats and not for sailing boats.

Generally the all-round visibility from the main helm position has to be checked in a practical way.

For craft having more than one helm station, at least one helm station shall meet the vision requirements of this International Standard. Other helm stations that do not meet the requirements shall display a sign, in clear view of the operator.
